Library Living: The Library of Things

0

Have you ever wanted to try out a board game before you bought it? Or needed a tablet to keep kids occupied on a road trip, but didn’t want to buy one? Or wanted to borrow corn hole boards for a block party you’re hosting?

[This Library Living series has been going on for months — do you know what I’m going to say here, yet??]

THE LIBRARY HAS ALL THOSE THINGS TO CHECK OUT!

Introducing PPLD’s Library of ThingsIt is really just that — a collection of items at different libraries that you can check out for a certain amount of time.

Some of the items in PPLD’s Library of Things include:

  • Board games (these vary by library branch)
  • Book club sets
  • Launchpads (tablets preloaded with apps, stories, videos, etc. usually with a certain theme)
  • Discovery kits (craft kits or STEM related activity kits)
  • Internet hotspots
  • Lawn games
  • Pikes Peak Culture Passes
  • Seed packets
  • Photography/videography equipment
  • Video games
  • Toys
  • And more!

Each type of item has different rules for check out. Most items can be checked out for seven days at a time. Some items may be placed on hold online, but others need checking out in person.

It’s so nice to be able to borrow these things without having to pay to purchase or rent them! It’s great to be able to pick up a board game or a fort builder kit for a fun family night, or to check out pickleball paddles to play with friends. There are so many options available to you as a Pikes Peak Library District patron!

What’s the first thing you’ll check out of the Library of Things? Let us know in the comments below!

And be sure to check out the rest of the Library Living series HERE!
