Father’s Day is this Sunday, June 16. Because we are grateful for all Dad does throughout the year, there are many wonderful ways to celebrate Father’s Day locally. Some ideas include a special meal or giving Dad a relaxing day. Our family especially likes to celebrate Father’s Day with an outing or hike and usually some BBQ at home.
Here are nine local ideas for treating Dad to a fun-filled day.
Free-for-Dad Activities
- US Olympic & Paralympic Museum offers complimentary admission to dads on June 16. Flame Café will also provide a free beverage by purchasing an entrée.
- Pikes Peak – America’s Mountain welcomes dads for free with one paid admission.
- Dads and Dinos at Rocky Mountain Dinosaur Resource Center in Woodland Park is a short drive to share a day with Dad and dinosaurs. Dads get in free with one paid adult or child (5-12 years old) admission.
- Painting with a Twist has a special Dad Paints Free class to “Paint Your Fav Powerup!” on a 12×12 canvas. Registration required.
Other Local Father’s Day Options
- Celebrate Father’s Day with the Wolves at Colorado Wolf and Wildlife Center from 9-11 am. Reservations are required as space is limited.
- Coronado High School Auditorium hosts The Amazing Chemistry Show at 10:15 am. Registration is required for this free show.
Get Outside
Since there are so many fun hikes and parks in our area, here are a few of our favorites.
- Garden of the Gods is always free. What a beautiful place to have a picnic and hike with Dad on his special day!
- Monument Rock is a 2.7-mile loop trail and a fun way to get outdoors. Also, Monument Lake is nearby for a picnic, fishing, or paddleboarding on the lake.
- High Arches Trail and Ute Valley Regional Park Trail is an easy route to see various terrain and enjoy a picture by the mini arch.
