The Colorado Wave of Light- A Free Remembrance Event For Families

Thank you to Foreknown Ministries for sponsoring this post.

Foreknown Ministries, a Colorado nonprofit, is honored to host the annual Colorado Wave of Light and looks forward to the third annual remembrance event on Tuesday, October 15, 2024.

With 1 in 4 pregnancies ending in loss, that means you either know someone or will know someone who will walk through loss. This staggering statistic begs the question, why aren’t more people talking about pregnancy or infant loss? Where is the support and the community for women and men walking with one another during deep grief from the passing of a baby?

Alyson Brown and Kelsi Cole, best friends and co-workers were pregnant just weeks apart and both experienced the stillbirths of their expected children, within two weeks of one another. In their grief, they asked the same questions and struggled to find a place where families could come and just “be”.  So they stopped searching and started building a community where these losses would be acknowledged. That is where Foreknown was born.

Alyson and Kelsi from Foreknown MinistriesOctober is known for Pregnancy and Infant Loss Awareness month, with the 15th recognized as “Remembrance Day”. Historically, the “Wave of Light” on Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day, is where families would light a candle at 7:00pm in their respective time zones in remembrance of their baby(ies), thus creating a wave of light throughout the world. After 2020, Foreknown recognized that most bereaved parents remained isolated and alone in their grief. And if there is one thing that year taught us, it is that we need community! That is exactly why the Colorado Wave of Light was created. No-one should have to walk through grief alone, so Foreknown invites individuals and families alike from the four corners, to join together in Colorado Springs for an evening of remembrance.
